You’ll hardly find a beach vacation photo album on facebook without some shots of people jumping in the air. That there is something special to this motif, is what Philippe Halsman was thinking when he talked celebrities like Grace Kelly, Richard Nixon, Audrey Hepburn, Salvador Dali, Robert Oppenheimer or Brigitte Bardot into jumping in front of his camera.
A collection of these pictures can be found in Philippe Halsman’s Jump Book published in 1959.

Ocean I-VI is not the prequel to Stephen Soderbergh’s gangster saga, but the latest work of photography megastar Andreas Gursky currently on show at the Sprueth Magers Gallery in Berlin.
The Big Picture is a terrific a news photo blog by Alan Taylor, who uses pictures from various news and photography agencies such as AP, Reuters, Getty etc. to tell gorgeous stories on the website of his employer boston.com.
